How to make marketplace-ready product photos
- Remove the background first with the background remover, so each photo is a cut-out with a transparent background. Photos shot on a plain, light backdrop also work: the backdrop is detected by its colour.
- Drop one photo or a whole batch on the box above.
- Pick the marketplace. The size, the share of the frame the product fills and the file type are set for you; you can change any of them.
- Check the preview, then download each image, or all of them.
What each image gets
Every photo is placed on a square canvas of pure white (RGB 255, 255, 255), centred on the product's own outline rather than on the original photo, and scaled so the product's longest side fills the chosen share of the frame: 85% for Amazon, Shopify and eBay, and 80% for Etsy, whose thumbnails are cropped to different shapes. Specks left around a cut-out are ignored when the product's outline is measured, and faint halo pixels are dropped so they don't tint the white. Downscaling uses a Lanczos filter, so labels and fine edges stay sharp.
The optional soft shadow adds a light contact shadow under the product so it doesn't look as if it is floating. The background under the shadow is then no longer pure white, so leave it off for Amazon main images.

What background does Amazon require for the main image?
Pure white, RGB 255, 255, 255, with the product shown as 85% of the image, according to Amazon's product image requirements for sellers.
Can I use a photo that still has its background?
Only if the background is plain and light, such as a white or grey sweep. For anything busier, remove the background first.
Why is the product smaller on Etsy?
Etsy crops thumbnails to square, portrait and landscape shapes and asks for enough border around the product. An 80% fill keeps the whole product visible in each crop.
