How to make a seamless Instagram carousel
- Drop a wide panorama or a design made for swiping.
- Set the number of columns to the number of slides you want (up to 10 on Instagram, 20 here) and keep 1 row.
- Keep the Portrait 4:5 tile shape for the largest slides, or choose Square.
- Download the ZIP and upload the tiles in number order (1, 2, 3…) as one carousel post.
Getting a seamless swipe
A seamless carousel is one wide image cut into equal slides, so swiping reveals the next part of the picture. Each 4:5 slide is shown at 1080 × 1350 pixels, so a three-slide panorama should be about 3240 × 1350 pixels (a ratio of 2.4:1) to avoid cropping; for square slides, 3240 × 1080. If your image has a different shape, the tool crops the top and bottom (or sides) evenly so every tile is exactly the chosen ratio. Keep important details, faces and text away from the cut lines, because Instagram shows a small gap between slides while swiping.
Unlike a profile grid, carousel slides are uploaded in normal order. The files are numbered left to right so they sort correctly. Slicing happens in your browser at full resolution; your image is not uploaded.
