How to crop an image into a circle
- Drop a photo on the box above. A round crop area appears.
- Drag it over the face or logo you want, and drag a corner handle to resize it.
- Click Download to save a PNG where everything outside the circle is transparent.
Round images for avatars and logos
Circular photos are used for team pages, email signatures, presentation slides, stickers, Discord and Slack avatars, and website "about" sections. Most platforms crop profile pictures into a circle on display anyway, but uploading an already round image with a transparent background gives you full control, and it looks right on any colored background.
The output is always PNG, because JPEG cannot store transparency. If you need a white or colored background instead, place the PNG on a background in any editor, or crop to a square instead. For a perfect circle, the crop box keeps a 1:1 ratio; the image size is shown below the preview.
The crop is made from the full-resolution photo in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and the downloaded file contains no metadata.
FAQ
Why is the background transparent?
Only the circle contains the image. The corners are transparent so the picture looks round on any background.
Can I save the circle as JPG?
JPG has no transparency, so the corners would become a solid color. The circle crop always saves PNG.
How big will the circle be?
As wide as your crop box, up to the shortest side of the photo. Make the box smaller to zoom in on a face.
