How to convert a PDF to PNG

  1. Drop the PDF on the box.
  2. PNG is selected on this page. Pick a resolution; 150 dpi suits most screens, 300 dpi suits print and slides.
  3. Choose specific pages or leave the box blank for all pages.
  4. Press Convert to images, then download pages individually or as a ZIP.

Why PNG?

PNG is lossless: every pixel is stored exactly, so text, charts, diagrams, logos and screenshots stay perfectly crisp, with none of the blocky artefacts JPG can add around sharp edges. That makes PNG the better choice for documentation, presentations, technical drawings and anything you will zoom into or edit further. The trade-off is larger files for photo-heavy pages; use JPG for those.

PNG files are widely supported in documents, slides, design tools, wikis and websites. Pages are rendered with the PDF.js engine at the resolution you choose, on a white background.

Like every PDF tool on this site, it runs entirely in your browser: the file is read from your device, processed locally and saved back to your device. Nothing is uploaded, there is no account, no watermark and no daily limit.

FAQ

Is PNG better than JPG for PDF pages?

For text and diagrams, yes: PNG is sharper. For scanned photos, JPG gives much smaller files with similar visible quality.

Do the PNGs have a transparent background?

No. Pages are rendered on white, as they appear in a PDF viewer.

How large will the PNG files be?

A text page at 150 dpi is typically 100–400 KB; photo-heavy pages are larger.
