How to use the tally counter
- Tap the big + button (or press Space or ↑) to count. Use − to correct mistakes.
- Rename the counter, change the step (1, 2, 5 or 10), or add more counters to count several things at once, such as cars and bikes, or attendees per door.
- Your counts are saved automatically, so they survive a reload. Copy the totals when you are done.
Uses for a click counter
A tally counter, or clicker, replaces pencil tally marks and handheld mechanical counters. People use it to count visitors at an event, people entering a shop, laps of a track, reps and sets at the gym, stitches and rows in knitting, birds or traffic for a survey, inventory, prayer or mantra repetitions, and votes or points in games. Multiple named counters make it easy to keep separate totals side by side.
The page works offline once loaded, gives a short click sound and vibration on phones that support it (turn them off if you need to count silently), and saves to your browser's local storage, not a server. For big crowds, keep your phone screen on; on most phones the large button can be tapped without looking.
Will my count be lost if I close the page?
No. Counts are saved in this browser and reappear when you come back.
Can I count down?
Yes. Use the − button or the ↓ key; counts can go below zero.
Can I use several counters?
Yes. Add as many as you need and name each one.
