How to use the countdown
- The big number shows how many days are left; the boxes below count down the exact days, hours, minutes and seconds live.
- Open Change the event to count down to anything: a wedding, a holiday, exams, a product launch or a birthday. Type a name, pick the date and optionally a time.
- Use Copy link or Share to send your countdown. The link contains the event name and date, so friends see the same countdown. Download card saves an image for Instagram or WhatsApp stories.
How the days are counted
"Days to go" counts calendar days between today and the event day, which is how most people (and children counting sleeps) think about it: if the event is tomorrow, it says 1 day. The live clock counts down to the exact moment, midnight at the start of the event day unless you set a time, in your device's time zone. When the day arrives, the countdown celebrates; after it, it shows how many days ago it was, and holiday pages move on to next year's date automatically.
Holidays with moving dates are calculated for you: Easter uses the Gregorian computus, US Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November, Mother's Day (US) the second Sunday of May and Father's Day the third Sunday of June. Lunar holidays use published calendars and may differ by a day depending on where you live.

Can I make a countdown for my own event?
Yes. Open "Change the event", enter a name, date and time, then share the link.
Does the countdown use my time zone?
Yes. It counts to midnight (or your chosen time) in the time zone of the device viewing it.
Will it keep working if I leave the page open?
Yes. It updates every second and adjusts automatically when the day changes.
