How to add up your subscriptions
- Add each subscription from the list of common services, or choose Custom and type its name.
- Check the price and billing period (weekly, monthly, quarterly or yearly). Prices vary by country and plan, so edit them to match your bank statement.
- See what you spend per month, per year and over ten years, and what that money could grow to if invested instead.
The real cost of small monthly payments
Subscriptions are designed to feel small: 10 or 15 a month rarely seems worth thinking about. But they add up, and surveys regularly find that people underestimate their subscription spending by more than half. Converting everything to a yearly figure makes the total visible: three streaming services at around 13 a month each cost nearly 500 a year, and the same money over ten years, invested at 7%, would grow to about 6,750.
To trim the list, look through your bank and card statements for recurring payments, cancel services you have not used in the last month, rotate streaming services instead of keeping them all, switch to annual billing for services you will definitely keep (often 15–20% cheaper), and check for family plans you can share. Your list is saved only in this browser, so you can update it as things change. Nothing is uploaded or linked to your accounts.
