How to convert a PDF table to Excel
- Drop the PDF on the box, or tap to choose it. Pick pages if you only need some of them.
- Press Find tables. Every table found is shown with its first rows, so you can check the columns.
- Untick any table you don't need, then press Download Excel (.xlsx), or Download CSV for other apps.
Tables with and without lines
Ruled tables are read from the lines drawn on the page: each box becomes a cell, and where an inner line is missing the cells are merged, as in a heading over two columns. Tables without lines, such as most bank statements and reports, are read from how the text lines up: the columns are the gaps that run down the whole table. Text that wraps onto a second line stays in its cell, and a heading that wraps is joined into one header row.
Amounts come out as numbers Excel can add up, not as text: thousands separators, negative amounts in brackets, currency signs and percentages are read, and decimal commas (1.234,56) are recognised from the document. Codes with leading zeros, such as 00123, stay as text. The PDF is read in your browser and is not uploaded; only the PDF and spreadsheet libraries load from a public CDN.
Does it work on scanned PDFs?
A scan has no text to read, only a picture of it. Run the file through OCR PDF first to add a text layer, then convert it here.
Why are two columns joined into one?
In a table without lines, two columns that touch in one row look like one column. Try "Only tables with ruled lines" if the table has lines, or split the column in Excel with Text to Columns.
Can I get all tables on one sheet?
Yes. Choose "All tables on one sheet" before downloading; the tables are placed one under another with an empty row between them.
Is there a page or file size limit?
No fixed limit. Large PDFs take longer because every page is read on your device; choose a page range to speed it up.
