How to change your voice

  1. Press Record and say something, then press Stop. Or drop an existing voice recording or video.
  2. Pick an effect such as Chipmunk, Deep voice, Robot, Monster or Cave echo, or fine-tune pitch, speed, echo and the robot effect with the sliders.
  3. Press Play effect to hear it, then download the result as a WAV file to share or use in videos.

How the effects work

Pitch is changed by resampling: playing the audio faster raises the pitch, like a tape running fast, which is the classic chipmunk sound. Tick "Keep speed when changing pitch" to stretch the audio back to its original length with a granular overlap-add technique, so you sound higher or lower without talking faster. The robot effect uses ring modulation, multiplying your voice by a low-frequency sine wave, the trick behind classic science-fiction robot voices. Echo adds a feedback delay, and speed changes tempo and pitch together.

All processing runs in your browser with the Web Audio API, rendered offline at full quality, so even long recordings are processed quickly. Your recording is never uploaded, which makes the tool safe for kids and for private messages. For pranks and fun only: do not use voice effects to impersonate real people or deceive others.

Can I change the voice in a video?

Drop the video to process its audio. To put the new audio back into the video, use a video editor.

Does it work in real time?

No. You record first, then apply effects, which gives better quality and works on every device.

How do I get an MP3?

Download the WAV, then convert it with the WAV to MP3 converter.
