How to make a slowed + reverb song

  1. Drop an audio file on the box: MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC.
  2. Choose a preset: Slowed + reverb, Super slowed, Nightcore or Sped up, or set the sliders yourself.
  3. Press Preview to listen. Changes apply when you let go of a slider.
  4. Download as WAV (best quality) or MP3 to share or upload.

How the effect works

The "slowed + reverb" sound that took over TikTok and YouTube is made by slowing a track down like a record played at a lower speed, which lowers the pitch at the same time, then adding a large, washy reverb and a little extra bass. At 85% speed, a song sounds about 2.8 semitones lower and 18% longer; "super slowed" versions use around 70%. Nightcore does the opposite: faster and higher. Changing speed and pitch together is deliberate here, because it gives the dreamy, heavy character that pitch-preserving time-stretching does not.

The reverb is a convolution reverb with a generated impulse response: decaying stereo noise whose length is set by Room size. Reverb mixes the original (dry) and reverberated (wet) signals; more reverb pushes the vocals further back. The final file is rendered with the Web Audio API's offline renderer, so it is processed faster than real time.

How do I make a song slowed without changing the pitch?

This tool slows like a turntable, so pitch drops too, which is the classic slowed + reverb sound. Pitch-preserving stretching needs a different algorithm.

Why is the MP3 option not working?

The MP3 encoder is loaded from a CDN when you first use it. If you are offline, download WAV instead.

What is nightcore?

A style where songs are sped up (usually 115–130%) and pitched higher, often with little reverb.
