How to convert numbers to words in the Indian system
- Type the number, with or without commas.
- The Indian style is selected, so the result uses thousand, lakh and crore.
- For a rupee amount with paise, choose Currency and Indian rupees: 2500.50 becomes "two thousand five hundred rupees and fifty paise".
Lakh and crore
In India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal, large numbers are grouped differently: the first group has three digits, and after that groups have two digits. So 1,234,567 in the international system is written 12,34,567 and read as twelve lakh thirty-four thousand five hundred sixty-seven.
