Fair randomness for little decisions
Should we get pizza? Who goes first? Which card should open the magic trick? Letting chance decide settles small dilemmas quickly and fairly. Every answer here comes from your browser's cryptographic random number generator with unbiased selection, so yes and no are exactly 50/50, each card in the deck is equally likely, and cards drawn together are never repeated.
The Magic 8 Ball, a toy first sold in the 1950s, has twenty answers: ten positive, five non-committal and five negative, all reproduced here with the same odds. Random cards are handy for card tricks, teaching probability (the chance of drawing an ace is 4 in 52, about 7.7%), drawing prompts and games when the real deck is missing. Nothing is stored or sent anywhere.
Is the yes or no answer really 50/50?
Yes. It uses a secure random generator with no bias towards either answer.
What are the Magic 8 Ball answers?
Twenty: ten yes answers such as "It is certain", five vague ones like "Ask again later" and five no answers such as "Very doubtful".
Can I draw several cards?
Yes, up to five at once, without repeats, with optional jokers.
