How to view, optimize and convert SVG

  1. Drop an .svg file on the box or paste SVG code. The preview updates as you edit the code, on a checkerboard, white or dark background.
  2. Click Optimize to remove editor junk and round numbers, then download the smaller SVG or copy it as a data URI for CSS.
  3. To make a PNG, choose a width (or a preset size such as 512) and click Download PNG. Tick Background for a solid color instead of transparency.

What optimization removes

SVGs exported from Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma and Sketch often carry comments, metadata, editor-specific namespaces and attributes, empty groups, and coordinates with six or more decimal places. None of that changes how the image looks. Removing it and rounding numbers to two decimals typically makes icons 20–60% smaller, which speeds up websites. Use 0 or 1 decimals for large icons drawn on whole pixels, and 3 for tiny detailed graphics. Always check the preview after optimizing: very aggressive rounding can distort small shapes.

SVG to PNG

SVG is a vector format, so it can be rendered at any size without blurring. That makes it ideal for producing app icons, favicons and social images at exactly the resolution you need. The conversion uses your browser's SVG renderer, so fonts and effects look the same as in the browser. Images that reference external files or web fonts may render without them.

The preview shows the SVG as an image, which means any scripts inside the file are not run. Your files stay on your device.

Is it safe to open an SVG from the internet?

SVGs can contain scripts. This tool displays them as images, where browsers never run scripts, and warns you if a file contains any.

Why is my PNG blank?

The SVG may have no width, height or viewBox, or it may rely on external files. Add a viewBox, or embed the images.

Can I convert PNG to SVG here?

No. Turning pixels into vectors (tracing) is a different process; this tool goes from SVG to PNG.
