How to use the sketch pad
- Draw with your finger, a stylus or the mouse. Pick the Pen for pressure-sensitive lines, the Marker for wide semi-transparent strokes, or the Eraser.
- Choose a color from the swatches or the picker, and set the size and opacity.
- Undo and redo as often as you like (Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z on a keyboard).
- Download a PNG at double resolution, on the paper color or with a transparent background.
Pressure and smooth lines
On devices with a pressure-sensitive pen, such as an iPad with Apple Pencil, a Surface Pen or a Wacom tablet, the pen line gets thicker as you press harder, just like ink. The page uses the browser's Pointer Events API, including high-frequency coalesced points, so fast strokes stay smooth instead of turning into straight segments. Markers are drawn as smoothed curves at a fixed width.
Strokes are stored as vectors, which is why undo is instant and the drawing redraws sharply when you resize the window or rotate your tablet. The drawing is kept in your browser's local storage so it is still there next time; it is never uploaded.
Ideas
Sketch a quick diagram for a chat message, annotate an idea during a call, practise lettering, let children doodle without installing an app, or draw a simple signature with the transparent background option (the signature pad tool is tuned specifically for that).
Does it work with Apple Pencil?
Yes, including pressure. Palm rejection is handled by iPadOS.
Can I import a photo to draw on?
Not in this sketch pad. To annotate images, use the screenshot beautifier or the meme maker.
Why did my old drawing disappear?
Drawings are saved in this browser only. Private browsing modes and clearing site data remove them.
