How to create Article schema
- Choose the type: Article for general content, BlogPosting for blog posts or NewsArticle for news.
- Enter the headline, a representative image URL, the author's name and profile URL, and the publication and last-modified dates.
- Add the publisher name and logo and the article URL.
- Copy the script into the article page and validate it.
What Article markup does
Article structured data helps search engines identify the headline, author, publication date and main image of a page. Google can use it to show the right title, image and date in results and in Top Stories, Discover and Google News surfaces. Clear authorship, with a link to an author page, also supports the "experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust" signals Google looks for in content.
Keep dates honest: dateModified should change only when you meaningfully update the article, not every time the page is rebuilt. Use high-resolution images (at least 1200 pixels wide) in 16:9, 4:3 or 1:1 ratios. Google's Article markup has no strictly required properties, but headline, image, dates and author give the best results, so the generator flags missing ones.
Everything is generated in your browser.
FAQ
Where do I add Article schema?
Paste the JSON-LD script into the HTML of the page it describes, usually in the head. Most CMSs and SEO plugins have a field or block for custom code.
Will Article schema guarantee rich results?
No. Valid markup makes a page eligible, but Google decides per search whether to show a rich result. Check Search Console for errors and eligibility.
Should I use Article or BlogPosting?
Both work. BlogPosting is a more specific type of Article and suits blog content; Google treats them the same way.
