How to make a GIF from images

  1. Drop two or more images. They are ordered by file name, so name them 01, 02, 03… for full control.
  2. Set how long each frame shows, in milliseconds: 100–200 ms for animation, 500–1500 ms for a photo slideshow.
  3. Choose the width, and turn on Boomerang to play forwards then backwards.
  4. Click Make GIF, check the preview and download.

Good uses

Stop-motion animations, before-and-after sequences, step-by-step product shots, sprite animations from a game, reaction GIFs from burst photos, and simple slideshows for messages and email newsletters (where video often does not play). All frames are scaled to the size of the first image; frames with a different shape are centred on white so nothing is stretched.

GIFs are limited to 256 colors, so the encoder picks the best palette for your frames using median-cut quantisation, and dithering smooths photographic gradients. For photos, keep the width at 480 px or less to keep the file small. The GIF is built on your device with no upload and no watermark.

FAQ

How many images can I use?

As many as your device can handle; 2–100 frames is typical.

How do I change the order?

Rename the files with numbers (01, 02, 03) before adding them.

Can each frame have its own duration?

Not yet; all frames share one duration. Duplicate an image to hold it longer.
