With Arial or Times New Roman at 12 point and 1-inch margins, a single-spaced page holds about 500–550 words and a double-spaced page about 250–275. So:

Wider fonts such as Verdana and Courier fill pages faster; Calibri and Times New Roman fit more words. Real documents vary with paragraph breaks, headings, quotations and references, so treat the result as an estimate and check the page count in your word processor before you submit.
